What a great was had by all those attending the “Dementia Day on the buses event at Lawrence Hill Bus Depot on Friday 12th September.
The programme included:-
• A dementia awareness session with some of the drivers, their trainers and managers.
• Let people with dementia and their carers have a go at being a driver (although the buses weren’t allowed to move off of course!)
• Let Firstbus staff see what it is like to have dementia or be a carer.
The main comment in feedback was
“They look so normal, you wouldn’t know they had Dementia would you?”
So our awareness session helping them to identify symptoms was what we call in the trade “a result”!
So we now plan similar events at other bus depots around the region
