BOPF – Postal Votes
Just a final gentle reminder that the deadline for Postal Votes for the May 2021 local elections is Tuesday 20th April at 5.00pm.
You may have already organised this for yourself, a family member, or a friend, but if not, it would certainly be worth following up if you would prefer not to vote in person, particularly during the pandemic.
Here is a link to the relevant part of the Bristol City Council website:https://www.bristol.gov.uk/voting-elections/postal-votingA call for support from the Stepping Up Project team – members of the public and health and care professionals
As part of the Bristol City Council ‘Stepping Up’ Programme, the Digital Health Group is carrying out a survey to explore the impact, ease of use and convenience of remote diagnosis, consultations and appointments during the Covid-19 pandemic – through the lens of inclusivity of access.
We would love to hear your views on how you or your workplace (healthcare organisation) have been impacted by Digital Health services and accessing health related support. The survey data will be anonymous and used for research. The outcome of the survey will be shared with experts, Stepping Up and key partners and decision makers.
Your views are essential for shaping services that can meet all of our needs. Please help us by completing the survey and sharing with your contacts.
A link to the PATIENT survey can be found here.
A link to the Healthcare Professional survey can be found here.
This should take approximately 5 to 10 minutes to complete. Thank you.
Avon and Somerset Police is now offering the dementia wristbands as they cover a greater area than Avon Fire. You can read more about the wristbands on our website: https://www.bdaa.org.uk/free-resources/dementia-wristbands/ and, if you live in the Avon Fire & Rescue area you can request one from them. If you live in the wider area you can get your free wristband by registering for the Police Dementia Safeguarding Scheme. Please see this poster for further details.
Thank you to Margaret for sharing this amazing video showing the power of music for people living with dementia. If you know anyone who could benefit from an MP3 Player please let us know on office@bdaa.org.uk. We have already received funding to provide MP3 players for locals. We simply need a name and delivery address and 15 song titles and artists. Read more about The Power of Music on our website. Please do share this poster with anyone who would be interested in MP3 players.
We had our second meeting last month to discuss how to support groups to form for people living with young onset dementia. If you would like to join our working party please let us know – the next meeting is on 22nd April 7-8.30pm. We have created a Facebook group – The Denim Generation – please join if appropriate. We are also seeking a few administrators for the Facebook page to help us monitor posts and share relevant information. Please contact us on office@bdaa.org.uk if you can help.
We have generously received funding from The National Lottery Community Fund. They would like our volunteers to fill in a confidential questionnaire – all details here. If you have volunteered/supported us this past year please do fill this in. Thank you.

It’s World Rocks Against Dementia in July. We’re obviously not sure if we can host an outdoor or even indoor event yet but wondered if anyone here could help us with this? Perhaps you are in a band or choir and could host an online event for us? The event has to be free. Please see this poster for further details.
