We were very excited to have our second year of award winners! We presented Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards for those businesses, organisations and groups raising dementia awareness amongst their own communities.
Each winning business, organisation, or group was presented with a certificate and a logo (as below).
We also launched The Barbara Award in 2023 for schools and children’s groups.

Bronze Award: You will have had at least one (if not regular) dementia awareness session(s) for staff, and members of your organisation and encourage all staff and volunteers to become dementia aware. You will have a link person who liaises with BDAA. You will promote dementia issues on social media/internal promotions or share our posts/newsletter etc.

Silver Award: Bronze level plus: build awareness sessions into your inductions for new staff/volunteers etc, maintain a strong link with BDAA and share/take part in our events, Dementia Action Week etc, carry out a dementia aware building audit and update as necessary eg dementia aware signage etc.

Gold Award: Bronze and Silver level plus: self-running with own Ambassador to run awareness sessions or booking regular sessions for new staff (inductions), maintaining a link with BDAA and/or becoming a BDAA Ambassador, promoting Dementia Action Week, hosting own event or a fundraising event for BDAA, ensuring whole organisation is dementia aware – it is part of the culture of the organisation.
