You may have seen our recent posts in BDAA News, Linked In and also our social media pages, that BDAA is looking for trustees and a new Chair of trustees.

Thank you to all of you who have contacted me asking what was wrong, was I retiring, or slowing down etc.? Well, I’m not going anywhere, nor slowing down, I’m just changing role as we are trying to future proof the charity, it is Barbara’s legacy after all!

Earlier this year, we had a meeting where we discussed what would happen to the charity if I resigned or left. Well as the founder of BDAA, I’m not intending to resign, retire or die in the near future, but we do need to make sure BDAA carries on for the foreseeable future. Our work is still as crucial now as it was ten years ago when we started.

Adam (our treasurer) and I will be retiring as trustees to become Operational Directors. (Sounds very grand doesn’t it?), there are only four of us in “operations”, Sam, Lisa, Adam and me. We have doubled our staff in the last 20 months, back then there was only Sam and me!

So, we are experiencing growth pains. No, I’m not pregnant, we are increasing our staff because we have loads of ideas for which we need resources, both human and financial.

Some of our trustees are also moving on to new challenges, so we also need to fill those vacancies and appoint a new Chair.

We are still as enthusiastic as ever, so “Don’t panic Mr. Mannering”!

Please keep supporting and encouraging us, we need you.

Thank you.

Tony
